When you first move out you can’t afford a huge place, so your first apartment may be pretty small. But there are ways that you can decorate that may help the apartment to look a bit bigger.

In a lot of these types of apartments the bedroom is the same room as the living room. These are the perfect examples of where you can use either a sleeper sofa, or even a nice futon. There are many sizes that you can buy so no matter how small the room you should be able to find a piece of furniture that will work as both a place for friends to sit, and your bed at night.

If you have a desktop computer, you will obviously need to get a desk. These desk come in some nice small space saving sizes. Get one that will work to fit your computer on, but is also small enough that it won’t take up a lot of your room. You may even be able to find one that is at a second hand store, or a flea market. A lot of these desks will also have areas where you can put up your CDs.

Add in an area rug, not only will it look great, but it will help keep the noise down too. Place it under a table and chairs that you may have for your kitchen furniture if you live upstairs. It’s nice to be a bit quiet when you have people below you. An area rug can go into other rooms nicely too, and they will add some warmth and maybe a bit of much needed color.

If you have a smaller kitchen see if you can get a table that you can fold into the wall or up on the wall when you’re not using it. Get a couple of chairs that fold up and can be placed away or that guests can use to sit in.

You can still decorate your place and make it look fabulous even if it’s smaller. Don’t worry it won’t be your home for the rest of your life, and you can wait until you can afford more to decorate exactly how you may want too. Don’t forget to check out not only second hand stores, but garage sales in the neighborhood too. You never know what you might find that will look great in your new apartment.

Most sales people in furniture stores should be able to provide you with measurements for furniture that you are considering and you should be able to measure your room or rooms to make sure everything will fit and you can still walk in the apartment. Utilize the salesperson’s knowledge and they can help you get what will work and may also be able to offer up some additional decorating tips.

Design experts say that one color interior decorations are outdated as they do not revive objects in the room and the effect, on the whole, is dull. Choosing various colors for the walls of your rooms will light up your house.

Paint dealers offer you a wide variety of colors and ideas, so modernizing your home can only be the best choice. In addition, paint has constantly improved in the past years, therefore the dyes that are now put on the market do not smell and do not take long to dry. It is to your best if you pay attention to several color rules and tips before redecorating in order to avoid using too many colors and creating a gaudy aspect.

Light orange, mint green, sky blue and soft hues of yellow or red are some of the most used pastel colors in the year 2010, therefore you cannot go wrong by choosing one of them for your house. Use creamy and neutral hues if you want to create attention-grabbing combinations with these colors.

Yellow and orange look great mixed together on the walls of the same room because they are both warm colors. If there are walls in your rooms that you want to optically minimize or make noticeable, then you should paint them in orange, whereas for the rest of the walls choose soft shades of yellow. Poorly or artificially illuminated rooms will become sunnier if you select these colors.

On the other hand, blue and green may be warmed up by painting the other elements in the room in creamy or aged white. They may, nevertheless, be mixed with gray hues for those who want their rooms to have an aerial and fresh aspect. You may bring the serene and relaxing ambiance of the wellness centers into your house by simply painting the bedroom and the bathroom using these combinations.

Decorating an entire room in red is not advisable, according to interior design experts, as the room will be exhausting for your mind and eyes. Creamy and ivory-based combinations are the best choice for those who want to adorn their rooms with splashes of red and still keep the harmony.

Redecorating will no longer be a frightening experience for you thanks to these simple tricks. Do not refrain yourself from inventing new color combinations as there are plenty shades you may choose from to paint your walls, ceilings and trims.

Crown offers you a wide range of colors and ideas; convince yourself that whoever says Paint stinks is wrong.
